    hot start solenoid bypass quickie

So there's 3 pipes going from it:
one to the inlet pipe from AFM to turbo
one to the back of the intake plenum
one to the FPR (in 2 or 3 pieces, bolted onto the turbo -> hot pipe elbow and on the block next to some ground bolt)

so you just take the pipe from the plenum and connect it to the FPR, ditch the other two and plug the hole in the inlet pipe next to the breather?

    Cheers mate, all done
Is it safe to remove the plug connector above the power transistor and just cut the wires that go from the plug to underneath the solenoid and completely remove the solenoid?

    oh that
well from what i've read it doesn't do anything usefull except make the car run a bit hesitant after hot starts sometimes. When you bypass it it's totally useless, no need for it to be there.

Make certain that you are disconnecting the right thing

On the same bracket is the power transistor. Without it the car won't work. Sorry but I can't remember whether it feed the plugs or the injectors but its one or the other. Plugs IIRC.

I removed the HSS and just tucked the electrical plug up out of the way by hooking it over the top of the bracket. If you cut the plug off, you should really insulate the wires to ensure they don't touch each other or earth.

Yeah i know, the solenoid is just the bottom thingy held by 2 screws, the power transistor is the square one. I think it has something to do with the coilpacks and plugs, a dodgy one can make the car run on three cylinders (cured a mates problem by replacing the transistor)

I always get confused between that and the little silver box by the AFM which I now recall is the dropping resistor which feeds the injectors.
