I have just remembered a couple more oddballs that I really liked as a kid - there was an example of each on the street where I lived (as well as a Mk1 Celica and an Alfa GTV which I also loved):

    W ankel:

    Threesome:

Apparently they were both rubbish as cars, but I'd still like one of each now - just for the weirdness value.

Is that an RO80 and a Bagheera ? The froggie motor wasn't a bad bit of kit, was it ?

@Sparkyhx - Diane Keen...I had the hots for her more than I did the car Her and Felicity Kendal in the Good Life.

For me, the first car I actually wanted was a Peugeot 106 1.4xt

I didn't get to own one, as I was passed down a mk3 golf from my old dear. Slow as poo, but was a very cool car to have as a first one. I never actually treated it as my own car, and so never modified it (apart from an alpine stereo)

First car I bought was a Peugeot 106 Rallye. So that more than made up for the lack of an XT when I first passed my test

I wanted basically any Rally hero or Group B homologation I could find a decent photo of
The Mexico and Lotus Sunbeam that Ken posted The 6r4 but I preferred the updated versions that a coachbuilder came up with on the later Metro (that became the Rover 100)
The 205Ti16 was a firm fave also.

    Of course the RS200

Then I think every lad who grew up in the 80s wanted these

You can pick lagondas for pennies now (well £8K) but they are very unreliable and parts are really hard to get.

Wooden chassis doesn't help either really.

I can see its an alfa but what ? Is it some sort of Montreal or something ? Never seen anything else with those bands on the rear quarter but I remembered the car as being lower and more rounded

@ JonnyW - yes it's a Montreal, most photos are taken from a higher angle which helps to disguise the slightly comical ride-height. But what a beautiful thing

Used to be one of these a couple of miles from my house, Didn't know wheta the hell it was.
First time I saw it I was pulling out of my road on my way out to going to Bristol, then saw another on the motorway near gloucester on the same day. Never saw another 200 the whole journey

I dunno, but I really wanted one of these when I was about 4. I even had a matchbox version Maybe I thought it was a range rover...

And I wanted one of these for my first car since around the age of 12...

I one got at 16 and still have it (mines a soft top)... I need the bit between the bulkhead and screen to get it back on the road, but they seem rare and expensive!!
