    LED Headlights

These seem to be the next big thing...

There are now some kits out there which are like the HID kits were back in the day, so you can convert your standard headlights to be LED.

Has anybody tried any? I would thinking I might give some a go... MX5 bulbs are a 'challenge' to change, so was tempted to fit some of these.

    Cheers!

i would avoid cheap led kits to be honest, whilst hid technology has progressed to a point where even the cheapest of kits are "okay", leds powerfull enough to serve as headlights are still quite new. I'm not 100% versed on the subject but poor drivers, poor heatsinking and odd colouring are just a few of the pitfalls.

However, dont take my work for it, if you have a look on HIDPLANET, there is a wealth of info on there that can answer your question better than i can

The way I understand it, the only ones really worth having are the ones that do all the magic with auto-blanking off the parts that are shining on cars (in effect they 'dip' the parts of the beam that would dazzle oncoming traffic.
I can't really see the ebay tat doing this.

That's the Audi Matrix Beam I think - and lots of LEDs that are all angled in different directions. The kits are just replacement bulbs like the HIDs are.

I would avoid cheap ones. The cheap LED worklights/spotlights from China have a habit of failing after a while and they are not used nowhere near as much as headlights.

I think in fairness they've been on about a month or so. I guess we will see in a few months but I'd happily fit them if my Silk Road didn't force me into HID land.
