We seem to be missing a COVID-19 thread

Corona virus to all those shits stealing hand sanitizer from hospitals.

You can make your own. Just use pure grain alcohol or isopropyl, domestic and antibacterial spot gel.

There is no need to panic, it’s just a little worse than the common cold, no where near as bad as SARS, which is also a corona virus...

    Stop stealing from hospitals

Edited to say I was wrong about this.

You don’t say. The Murdoch press seem to be dressing it up as something it isn’t.

The UK public don’t help. If you need to stock up for a Holocaust, what are people
    Panic buying???? Bog roll ffs!

Did you know, we have some of the best virologists in the world, but they cannot work on Covid-19

These are the people who headed up the WHO influenza group.... they cannot do that now.

They used to have a CL-4 lab at Mill Hill (National Institute of Medical Research - was called the brick house)) when it got moved to the Francis Crick Institute, they lost the CL-4 lab (covid-19 has been designated BL/CL 4 by the WHO)

Instead we worry whether the 2nd generation immigrant Home Secretary is bullying her staff about immigration. Inside scoop. Local councillors have said Priti Patel tries to use her sexuality.... stop there. She is fat and not overly attractive... if they think she is trying to use her sexuality, shouldn’t we have better councillors?

I was talking to someone who works in employment law recently.

In their opinion if they've gone to the trouble of paying someone off then everything is true, because they almost never pay anyone off, they always go to court (and still lose)

Not always. I used to work for a magic circle law firm.... some people pay the other off because it isn’t worth the hassle

    Now back to Covid-19

I had 3 interviews lined up in London. They have now been rescheduled to do it via Skype because of Corona Virus...

Any tips to do an interview via Skype? My last video conference interview was in 2006 and was a disaster because all they saw was the side of my face ( some idiot had moved the polycom camera)

At least a webcam is cheaper than a train fare

Is that private or public sector tho? I can imagine it's pretty common in big private firms with plenty of cash. public sector is different from what I was told.

Get a headset with a microphone.

One of the big issues with video conference is the shit audio caused by teeny little microphones, the person being sat miles away and often a big echoey room.

I have a Plantronics Voyager Focus. The USB dongle died and it doesn’t connect properly via Bluetooth

A long USB cable may work though

Do a test call with a mate and ask them about how the video/audio is.

    Be in a well-lit room

Move the window of their head to be close to the camera (so you're pretty much looking at the camera on the call)

    Smile

My question about this virus is why do we care? The flu is a bigger killer of the frail - 60,000 a year worldwide according to what I’ve read. Why don’t people have to self isolate when they have the flu? I actually think it’s f*****g rude to sit on a train or in an office sneezing and coughing all over the place.

The media once again have whipped sheople into a frenzy and now they are fighting over toilet roll

    Exactly

Headline from the Sun “It’s Official, it’s an epidemic”

We didn’t see this media hype when there was a Swine Flu pandemic. Remember Covid 19 has not reached pandemic status

Heard from "ma sources" that we could well be looking at closing the schools next week.

Yea lots of people have said that, kids are amazing at spreading germs. Plus shutting the schools forces many of the parents to stay at home as well.
