We're starting off an exciting year of events for the NW with a beginner's drift day at Oulton Park.
The gist is you rock up with your car in the morning, get a short briefing and a couple of laps with an instructor in the passenger seat helping you along and providing tips and advice for the corners. Then you have the rest of the day to slide around the 2 short courses, really getting a feel for your vehicle and learning the basics of controlling oversteer in a low grip level environment, THIS does a better job of explaining it and details the schedule.
It's an awesome experience if you haven't done anything like this and will have you grinning when you string together a few corners after some practice. Also the track is kept very wet and relatively friction free so tyre wear is minimal to non-existent. Both myself and Scottie, along with a couple of others on here, attended one of these in October 2011 and are itching to get back out there.
The cost will be what's advertised on the website which is £119 for the full day:
07:30 Signing on
08:30 Briefing
09:00 2 laps with instructor
09:30 Drifting begins
13:00 Lunch
14:00 Drifting restarts
17:00 Drift time ends
Or there is a cheaper option of doing half a day which isn't on the website but I can find out how much that would be if people are interested. Helmet hire is £10 and to carry a passenger is also £10, plus you can have multiple drivers in the same car for £25 extra for each additional driver. As ever there is a £5 member subsidy for those that show up, along with the guarantee of having an amazing time getting your car sideways and slightly dirty
Post up on here if you're interested, also take a look at the thread last time we put on one of these for more details http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.p...h-October-2011
