    Post Door Speakers

Does anyone know what size door speakers fit in the doors of a 200sx s13?
I am wanting to buy a pair of speakers off my mate but don't want to strip the door panels off to find that they don't fit!!!!

    Cheers

The front doors contain a 4x6, but you can get away with a bit of cutting to fit 51/4" drivers in there or do what I've done and make up some baffles to go on the outside and fit 6.5", much better sound, you could still trim them in black or grey to match.

I fitted 5.25" Alpines behind the standard grilles using custom MDF mounts in my old s13, so you should have no problems with the 4"ers.

4"ers will go in no probs, just build a baffle out of some 6mm MDF. But to be honest, I wouldnt bother with 4"ers unless they are of extremely good quality coz generally they dont compare in sound quality to a 5 or 6" speaker- not very good low frequency reproduction I'm afraid which will affect the mid range as well as the bass. Probably less bass than the standard 6x4s.

A 6" will go in the door on a baffle board, under the standard grill, with a bit of carefull positioning as will some brand 6x9s (small, shallow frames).

Personally, I have Infinity Kappa 6" with the Emit tweeter angled back and up.

    Ooooh, dont I sound clever!

I would have to agree that fitting 4" would be a waste of time and you would be better off doing the natural thing and getting some 6-6.5" or even 51/4" components which will give you good midrange and highs and slightly more bass up front, but do put a high pass filter on them, they sound so much better !!!

    Hi Mate.
Its not hard but be careful.
Theres a screw at the front top edge of the door under a plastic cap that flips open. Prise off the surround for the door opener.
The door handle is the tricky bit. Theres a screw at the bottom under a plastic cover. Now be damn careful, the handle is easy to break or crack the edges. Do the passenger side first coz its easier to get out and willgive you a better idea of what to do. Pull/ prise the handle up slightly. Theres a catch at the front edge of the handle that needs squashing to clear the door card. Gently pull the handle up, it sometimes will still catch but it will come up. When the handle is out theres another screw tucked up at the top of the hole. Now just go round the edges of the door card, pulling it off the door, which will unpop(?) the card poppers. Unplug the wires for the switches.
Job done. It sounds a bit complicated but its not too bad.

6x9's fit in there with a bit of persuasion.

( i think 6" splits sound better, but i had a set of 6x9's lying around)
