Meaning you block up the tubing going along the plenum to the front of the car? The brass EGR valve is left alone completely once the tubing is pulled off?

yup, as its not getting any exhaust gases anymoreOriginally Posted by Matt.Wild
Yeah, know how you feel, mate. This thread goes on for three pages and no-one clearly states which pipe to block until I post a photo of the wrong one.Originally Posted by Matt.Wild
Remove this one and nothing else. My site has been amended.
Did you miss the first page ?Originally Posted by Nicely

No mate. Unfortunately, your post was followed by two further pages of people saying 'remove the lot', 'cut the pipe and block both parts', 'just remove the pipe on the EGR Valve' and so on....
I had full sympathy for Matt continually asking for clarification.
i amazingly managed to block up the right pipe after reading this thread
Tell me about it - it wasn't exactly clear was it?Originally Posted by Nicely

I just blocked off the pipe in the picture and ignored the rest
Maybe not always the smart thing to do, but worked in this case
That seems FAR too easy Mr. Nicely, LoL - only because I can see the pipe at the first glance and it's actually accessible.... hehehe.
Will do that one tomorrow!
I don't understand how the egr could prevent detting because it is only
activated when you have vacume in the plenum, so on idle and when you shift the egr is open and sucking in hot fumes from the manifold, therefor it
seems like it should promote detting than preventing..
Who said it would prevent detting ?Originally Posted by S14R
As I understand it, it sucks in dirt or whatever into the engine which causes a unsteady behavior between 2000 and 2500 rpm (which I had, sort of a light studder around 2200 rpm) and by blocking that pipe its gone, that's it.
start reading from page 1!!
Jon mentions detting..
Ears are burning
Tried to find the old thread but struggling. That was one thread from millions though. Loads of people have disabled the EGR and no-one's blown up yet because of it.
in the end of the day, just like running a catch tank, it will help to keep everything nice and clean in the system, as pumping zorst gases back into the head cant be good can it?
Think the 2300-2500 hesitation is proof of that.
What size bolt to block the tubing?
Any that'll fit tightly. I used a shortish 6mm.
I used a drill bit and put a smal jubilee on it
Its not held onto the EGRC-BPT with anything, so should be fine with anything that's a tight fit.
Having not inspected the EGR unit, I just wanna ask.... once the indicated hose is detached and plugged, what do I do with the part where it used to be attached to (on the valve, or whatever it is ) I presume this just leads to nothing and can be left open?
Also, if I have the manifold part plugged, can the hose/pipe just be totally removed then?
Cheers
