What colour did Rays use for silver Nismo LMGT4 wheels?

    Hi all,

I am hoping you can help me out. I am looking to refurbish a set of Nismo LMGT4 wheels, which have been painted grey at some point in their lives. I'd like to get them as close to the factory silver finish as possible. It is my understanding that the factory silver LMGT4 wheels have diamond cut centres, diamond cut lips and the body of the rims / spokes are silver. The code on the Rays stickers suggests the colour is "CR" or "CRM", which I think might mean chrome silver. What I am not sure is if chrome silver is a colour or chrome silver just refers to the fact the wheel had shiny lips and shiny centres.

There are plenty of hints across the internet on how to mimic or near colour match bronze LMGT4s and well, white ones are white! But I am none the wiser as to a good colour match for the silver.

So, can anyone advise what is a very close match to the silver used by Rays for these rims?

    Thanks

Matching the colour perfectly will be almost impossible without a sample to try and match to. The chrome silver part will just be a colour name that Rays use internally and most likely wont tally up to any Nissan car colour. I believe that it'll be something based on a very fine aluminium metallic tinter (like the finest you can get in a standard paint scheme) but I've only seen 1 or 2 sets of these and never looked super close to see the metallic level, just guessing guestimating from pictures.

Silver LMGT4s have a diamond cut lip and centres so would need to be painted, then diamond cut then coated with a self etching clearcoat to bite into the bare metal.

There's no colour that will match the bronze wheels as they aren't painted, they are anodised! As someone who has 3-4 tins of colours that people say are a "near perfect match" I can tell you that these people are colour blind.

Honestly, I admire your dedication and my OCD would demand the same.

But the paint codes and anodising colours for everything posh like Nismo (and the RAYS own) have never been made available.

I would seek out someone who runs GT4s that are original and see what they can do to help, maybe you can get a high res photo and have a machine match it? Have you tried s14nash on Instagram?

A spectrophotometer for paint work won't work from a picture, has to be the real thing sadly

Fair play, to be honest I should be smart enough to know that

Thanks lads, some helpful tips there. But as a couple of you have pointed out, trying to find a paint code is like trying to uncover the whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant. Sadly, I don't know anyone local with silver LMGT4s that have factory original paint.

I feel your pain, I can hear the OCD in your voice about it and I totally get it.

I just had a scan on JDM Distro but they've only got Bronze LMGT4s in stock.

I guess you could always ask a dealer, Co-ordsport are a UK dealer of RAYS wheels, they might know more but again, I doubt they do.
