Will 55W HIDs melt the s14a projector?

Its MOT time next week and my current 35W HIDs are playing up. I have a spare brand new set of 55W HIDs that i can fit but i am a bit worried about melting the headlight inners.

Trying to decide, fit new set or attempt to fix the old set?

A very quick google search seems to suggest that you need to go with 35watt. 55watt is too powerful, it will just blow fuses.

Not done it myself yet,but it seems going to LED bulbs is the modern way

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

Blowing fuses is not going to be an issue as i will feed them with a relay.
I am tempted to fit one side with a 55w setup and monitor the bulb temps over 15 minutes to see if there is much difference. Ive had the 35w in there for over 10 yeasr with no heat issues.

I just bench tested the 55w setup and they only pull 2.7A, not much higher on start up either. The s14a lighting circuit should handle that ok.
