You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And if you can't fix it with a hammer,you've got an electrical problem!
The E-Type was a game changer. Just using it as an example of the cycle of cars going from wanted to sh1theap to wanted again. The E-Type fell to it's own success in that there were so many of them. In the 1980s they were just rusty impracticle thirsty 20 year old cars during a recession. In the last 1990s a friend of mine was asked to remove a "shitheap" for a fellows land. It was a 1973 E-Type Coupe. He kept it and restored it.
In the 2000s I was given a Jensen Interceptor also to remove it from the owners land....
Dodge Chargers are special now, but back in the 1970/80s they were the Ford Capri/ SX of the day. Cheap, common as muck and driven by redneck boy racers. They became so worthless that you could only give them to scrap yards.
With the Playstation generation, drift fame and Fast N' Furious generation, as well as people who main growing up was done in the 1980s, you will want the cars that you lusted for back then. And since these became sh1theaps and eventually scrapped, and are now harder to come by..... they are no longer sh1theaps but wanted and that means $$.
Obviously different cars will peak at different levels. And as you said above. sometimes there is no reasoning to the peaking.
There a few months ago a 1980s Toyota Corolla Coupe "Twin Cam" sold for 46k......... :-0 On the same day a lovely '70s Jag XJ sold for 6k........ :-0

The SX will always be overshadowed by Skylines and Z cars. But that said, they will always have a following.

This is kinda what i'm hoping for. I have a stash of money tucked away which I quite fancy using for another car (reliable car to chuck on track and not worry about popping expensive engines). I've been keeping an eye on S2000 and DC5 prices in the past 6 months and they are certainly on the decline, albeit very slight.
I'm not rushing out to buy anything just yet, as I think in the next 6-12 months prices are going to continue to decline based purely cost of living increases. That'll be where I pop up my head and try to mop up a billy bargain (perhaps) Having said that, I may need to keep said chunk of cash to see me through the next few years of this BS of a world that we are currently living in.
The bargains were 10-12 years ago when M reg S13 were going for £1400.
This year I've 2 notes and 2 people at the door. No one ever makes a hard cash offer.
Well, with the government's new cost of energy guarantee, it might not be the mental couple of years predicted. It's still expensive, but not as bad. Maybe this will slow what I thought might happen to hobby cars.
