Can anyone tell me what this is for please?

    Hello all,

Would anyone be able to shed any light on what this is for me please? It’s probably a simple one for you guys on here but I’ve not got a clue what it’s for.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry my bad for lack of detail. It’s a 99 S14a that was originally an auto back in the day.

That component is located between the passenger front turret and the coolant expansion tank.

I had a look through Google this afternoon. A couple of sites said it’s a drop resistor for the automatic gearbox. Apparently disconnecting it gives full pressure to the feed lines to the box which results in faster gear changes.

Don’t know how accurate the info is but my car has been a manual for years. If it is tied in with the auto box I’d like to think I can throw it out the engine bay

You're correct, that is what it is. Not sure that's how it worked, mind, but it is an irrelevance now
