S14a Hesitation from 5,000 RPM and above but only in 1st and 2nd gear.

Has anybody got any ideas what my be causing my S14a to be jerky and hesitant from around 5,000 RPM and above but only in 1st and 2nd gear?

    Pulls cleanly in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

    Very strange.

    Thanks in advance.

What’s the spec? Standard car has a reduced boost level in first and second. What spark plugs are you running and what gap? What fuel pump?

First things first, get a smoke test done to find any boost leaks, clean the MAF with contact cleaner and check over the coil packs (look for cracks in the plastic/corrosion)

Check the FPR. Mine had the same issue, changed everything and it turned out to be that

Hello mate does it backfire at all when it hesitates? Mine used to do that at around, 5k turned out to be knock sensor detecting a knock and cutting timing.

It doesn’t appear to back fire.
