    Washer jets not working

Hi guys. Both front and rear washer jets have stopped working on my 14a. The wipers work fine, just not the jets.

I can’t hear the jets buzz when activated, so I think it’s electrical. Are there separate fuses/relays for the washers? I checked the cabin fusebox and I could only see fuses for the wipers. They are both fine.

Advice on where to look much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Mike. There are separate pumps for front and rear - it’s possible they’ve both failed I guess.

What are the chances of them both dying at the same time though?

Does anyone have a part number for the windscreen washer pump? My washers have gotten very lazy.

Check wiring and connectors under the arch liner on the driver's front wing. Both pumps are located in the same place and, IIRC, supplied with power from the same wire.

Cool thanks. I will check the condition of them. Rear windscreen and headlights are perfect. But the front windscreen ones are very lazy and getting worse I think.

Before you take everything apart, poke a needle down the jets on the windscreen washers and check that the pipework under the bonnet is not pinched or split.

The pump for the headlights and the screen is the same, I'm fairly sure which points to a blockage under the bonnet for you, Mark

just take the pipes off under the bonnet and activate the washers, se if fluid pisses out.

By the by, I used the "needle down the jet outlets" thing to adjust the height of the jets while I was there. With a bit of fiddling you can get it to always hit the screen regardless of speed rather than jetwashing bystanding bikers when you are stationary or hitting the very bottom of the screen when travelling at speed.

Update. Took everything apart. Found there was voltage going to the pumps, so not electrical. Found a lot of gunk in the reservoir so gave pumps a blast with wd40, air, a shake and tap and they freed up. Yes, pumps were seized. All put back together and back to good working order again. Saved some £’s .

Tip, if you shake the pumps you should hear a clicking sounds (pump going up and down). If you can’t, it could be seized like mine were.
