Is anyone going to the Edenbridge Motor Show on 12th September?

I was in Hurst Green yesterday picking up my car from Abbey Motorsports. I wanted it worked on by a Japanese specialist who knew what they were doing. It cost me money, but I'm sure that it was a better choice than going to a general garage - and as for dealers - they just don't want to know about cars over 20 years old! By the time Abbey had waited for spare parts (and the wrong ones arrived so they had to wait again) they had the car for 2 months, although I think she spent more time sitting in their yard than actually inside of their workshop.

Anyway, she is finally back with me. On the way from the Hurst Green Station to Abbey Motorsports, I saw a flyer for the Edenbridge Motor Show and it looks like a good day out. I think I've left it too late to be an exhibitor, but just looking at the cars and tractors and steam engines will make it well worth a visit, particularly as the rally at Wrotham has been cancelled for the past two years, so I haven't seen a MF135 just like my father's tractor for a couple of years. Edenbridge appears to be far enough west from Wrotham that the exhibits will not all be the same as would have attended Wrotham, although some will undoubtedly be the same. There's an interesting steam lorry from Edenbridge which I don't think ventures as far east as Wrotham.

Exhibitors have to be there between 7am and 9:30am, but show visitors don't arrive until the much more civilised 10:00am. It costs £5 per person to get in.

You can also find them on Facebook.

That looks decent - shame I just dropped my 911 off for servicing this morning and it won't be back until Monday

I put in an appearance and saw another 200SX there! I will post pictures below. This one has definitely had some mods, unlike mine, which is in original condition. I've got some more show pictures on Facebook. If you're looking for me there, I'm HelenEdith.

My membership is pending on the SXOC - Essex & Kent Facebook group. Is there another one I should get onto?

This is the one, I think

I'll drop Paul a line on your Essex & Kent status as it'd be good to have you along. Despite SXOC essentially starting in Essex, there's very few members left with cars around these parts.

Mine used to go into Essex about once a fortnight, but since Covid, I haven't been to our Basildon office and my employer is well on the way to permanently closing it. We're just about all doing "Virtual First" unless there is an actual need for us to be in an office or at a customer's and this is going to be our new normal.

To be honest, there are very few cars left anywhere. I checked and there are only a bit over 300 manual S14s still taxed, with about double that number having SORN declared. Spread them out around GB and you won't see one very often. My doorbell is constantly ringing and I get notes under my wipers offering to buy mine. I'm not selling right now though.
