If it's expensive I'd just leave it. Does no harm

I'm almost loathed to give you advice because you neither acknowledged nor thanked anyone for the advice on your last thread.

Regardless, the simplest way of actually fixing is to change the sprocket. There is a brand new one for sale in the For Sale section on this board.

I had good luck just changing the VVT solenoid to an S14 model from the S14a model and it cured it except for slightly on some start ups but as soon as you put it into 1st and give a nudge on the throttle it's gone. Never does it any other time when before it would rattle at stop on idle loudly.

There's no difference between the S14 and S14a part.

It might not be a difference between S14 and S14a but there are definitely two variations. 23796-1N515 is a version that has a small ball bearing thing at the end of it which seems to work better. For some reason my 95 S14 solenoid had the bit at the end, while my 99 S14a had nothing at the end. See: https://www.silviaoc.com/discuss/thr...t-rattle.1842/

I may have just got lucky that any new solenoid would have fixed it but idk.
