    Hid 55 watt on a s14a question

Hi. I am looking at going from 35 watt to 55 watt on my hid lights. Has anyone had any issues with the 55 watt lights? Too hot, melting stuff, too much glare.

Stick with the 35s or go 55s?

If I remember from posts a long time ago, to run 55w you need to any wires to do with the headlights to a thicker gauge wire as the standard loom can't take it. I believe 35w is fine to use the standard loom though

Hi. I did assume ide need to run a relay feed. I wondering about the heat inside the lamps too. Just had a 15 minute drive home from work in the cold and the back of my cluster with the 35w is fairly warm but not hot.

Could I recommend going to LED instead of HID? Far less likely to damage the headlamp chrome, and headlamps are drying up.

LED conversion bulbs in reflector light housings now fail the MOT as HID's do.

Officially yes. But you could well get away with it, the ballast is quite small and easy to hide so can look stock.

They might spot the difference in light colour, but might not.
