    Dream car

We’ve done dream garage. During the Covid lockdown, we have all thought about what a dream car would be...,

Here is the start of mine, but work in progress

Has to have a BDA for the sound

It isn’t mine, MST fabricate everything new.

Mountune will build a Cosworth BDA for it. But what gearbox? Does it have a manual or a dual clutch transaxle? Maybe dare I say it, a Hybrid

Interior would be the best MK2 Escort. Recaros clothed in Andrew Muirhead leather as would the door cards. And lashings of Alcantara Flocked dash with an Android touchscreen with something like Autometer Dash command

JL Audio Sound System with CarPlay / Android Auto but not a sound off system, something discrete

No back seats, could have a GT3RS style half cage and the subwoofer could go there

So money no object. What would be your dream car? Doesn’t have to be a production one. Use imagination

A mk 3 capri, built like an English Hoonicorn xxx-pack arches and skirts.

Probably with a cayote v8 turbo's and NOS for the nost***ia of shitty 00s car movies. DCT 8sp box and flappy paddles, wouldn't go back to a manual, too used to auto nowadays.

Discreet audio, focal speakers and alpine touchscreen.

Interior re clad in modern soft leather and alcatrara with brushed aluminium. Red carpets, black headlining and seats.

Centre console cncd from billet aluminium and digital dash screen.

Modern heated recaros, but stitched to look retro.

Cage, harnesses done as discreet as possible, but features made from gussets and stuff that can't be hidden.

Coilovers, but with the air cups so it's actually usable on the road and one of those exhaust valves so it can be made sensible when not acting like a cock in it.

Dark metallic grey with a foose fade to black along the cills and some pearl pinstriping like binky.

Doubt I'll ever be in a position to build something like that though....

I remember looking for a capri shell to transplant my S14 running gear into back in 2008 and they were daft money then for a non rotter.

I still regret getting rid of my 2.0S capri, due to running costs, apprentice electrician running a 2.2 pinto on twin carbs was ambitious lol. I doubled my money in 8months, I saw it again for sale about 8 yrs ago for 10X what I sold it for

Would you have gone the whole hog and fitted the S14 suspension / sub frame etc, because the Capri rear end was shitty lol

I had planned to swap the engine and box, then follow the path of my old 2.0s and fit uprated brakes and suspension from Ford tuners, tbf mine handled quite well for something on leafs, abut iirc had good bilstien adjustable dampers front and rear and eibach springs with AP or wildwood 4 pots

But this was in 2002 or 2003 and I may be rose tinted in the spectacle fitment
