One of the biggest....... pretty much totally useless, we only pay for the legal insurance.

As is the case for most utilities.

I don't believe that your union allowed your company to force you to not opt out of the WTR.

It is literally why unions exist.

They could not force you to opt out

Your mistake wasn't getting decent legal representation

I think now they can force you - why is that? Oh because we don't have European employment law.

when they decide to outsource all of you , TUPE won't matter.....

But we all voted leave to keep those nasty immigrants out

WTD is not yet repealed so plenty of time to sign into it, but as eluded to, likely to not be here much longer.

Hope you're indispensable or your company has integrity otherwise expect tough times.

The only reason why UKPN are ramping up is because of Electric Vehicles.... but Mogg has other ideas as do the Kwasi gang - you couldn't make it up

50+ hr weeks and 24hr shifts are pretty normal in our industry.

Although electric cars are doing a great job of destroying the network, the biggest issue is the total lack of maintenance and investment since privatisation.

All the published figures look great for energy companies, but the reality is most places are running on 1970s gear that hasn't even been squirted with wd4o for the last 10yrs.

50+ hours may not be unusual and would require opting out.

But the fact is I do not believe you had union representation present while the employer forced you to opt out.

Suppose "very strongly implied the job would not be worth having if you didnt" is more correct a term....

Unite are our biggest union, prospect are second, both totally useless.

They can't even negotiate everyone to be on the same terms for doing the same job.... there's 20k difference across our office, then other benefits are sporadic - company cars etc.

And if your ever in a disciplinary hearing, usually the advice us to just have the bollocking and forget about it,

But this is drifting wildly off topic....
