The chickens have come home to roost for the Cornish, who were repeatedly told that they received far more EU funding than other areas of the country yet chose to vote Brexit overwhelmingly.

Cornwall Council was expecting to get an average of £100m a year until 2025, but it had received about £43m a year.
If only someone had told them, over and over again...

And here's another advert about how SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) continues to be affected but doesn't make the headlines because, you know, no one cares

According to a new report commissioned by the European Movement UK, companies are now getting strangled by red tape.

Red tape, lack of workers, huge hikes in overheads – Britain’s small and medium enterprises have sustained a disproportionate amount of the damage,” said Sir Vince Cable, the former Lib Dem leader who is now president of European Movement UK.

Almost 2000 businesses responded to the survey, out of which a staggering 94% said leaving the single market and customs union had harmed their operations.

Carol owned a bespoke lingerie business in the South West but had to shut it down because of red tape. She said in the report: “I did everything I could to prepare for Brexit. The reality of sending garments to the EU was a nightmare. I had goods that spent ages in transit and were then returned for ‘incorrect customs information’. The business was losing money, so I decided to close. Brexit was the final nail in the coffin.”

Hugh Chapman, who runs Long Mynd Cider in Bishops Castle, Shropshire, was another respondent damaged by Brexit. Chapman said a Europe-wide organisation was interested in buying and distributing his products, however, the “life-changing” deal then fell through.

Darren Farrell, who runs DARJAC Engineering in Essex and specialises in servicing high-end cars, said trade had vanished for his business because of Brexit. “Within nine months of the UK government signing the Trade and Co-operation Agreement with the EU, seven out of ten EU suppliers said that they could no longer support third country shipping & warranty,” he said. “We can’t move our customers’ vehicles to race events on the EU mainland without huge cost, including temporary export permits that take many hours. Two years on, we could no longer support the losses. Our business is finished.”

Ryan, isn't it? Remember we were complaining about the UK and Chemicals. Have you ever been to swim in a lake in the UK where a turd has passed you? The French seem to think it's normal....

And now, Jenrick is doing what he can to reduce that

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67515674

Here are some of his genius highlights:

So, scrap a list that they literally just made, which was designed to make sure the people right for the jobs available come.

Reduce the number of visas for the primary recipients (care workers), meaning less staff to do the jobs that I think the British population has made clear it is unprepared to do. Great.

And then tell those people that they can come here to work but you know, they have to abandon their families and live without them. Righto

When it comes to immigration, Brexit is a failure.

So now the Government's current agenda is "Immigration"

The Boat people is a minor inconvenience that once the Rwanda deal is sorted won't be a problem.
It's the "Legal" immigration that is now the major issue.

So the majority of Brexit voters wanted "Take Back Control of Our Border" - we have. But Britain still require's migrant labour to backfill all the shortages in services such as the NHS, Social Care etc. That migrant labour has to be filled from somewhere.... step forward Liz Truss and her "Huge Trade Deals" with India, African Nations, Vietnam, Australia etc..... yep those same trade deals that have clauses in them relating to Britain issuing Visas to the citizens of those countries.

So Brexit, mostly voted for Xenophobic hoping it would cut immigration, but in fact has had the complete opposite! Bravo

That's it, that's actually what doc and I said way back when in this thread when arguing with Leon. Anyone expecting a trade deal with a large economy and not expecting to have to issue Visas was dreaming.

My Dad always "Tried" to bring me up to be compassionate. As I'm getting older, I find I am more so. More tolerant (still don't suffer fools )

Where did the compassion go in this country. It seems there has been a xenophobic shift to the right in the vocal populous. But was is barmy is they are crowing "Fascist" at the Left (just listen to the right wing rhetoric from our government and Trump.) Someone should educate these people crowing Fascist, what fascism actually means
