I'm sure many people said that about minis, escorts, cortinas and Sierras etc... It is amazing what people are prepared to pay for what I guess is nost***ia?

S bodies aren't that bad actually they're arguably quite good and so that could be being reflected in the upshift in prices maybe...i was reading the other day one of the biggest movers in the hagerty classic car index had the Austin Allegro as one of strongest performers in price recently.... A truly awful car.... I used to ask my mum to drop me off round the corner from school rather than take the abuse from friends by arriving in that monstrosity!

    It'll take time for all the shit boxes to rot get repaired or exported before things really get interesting.... For now I must admit I do struggle with the price of cars like (just looks rough);

Might be time to buy a 350z to store, they are as cheap as they’re going to get before they start appreciating I’d say.

S Bodies are jdm/drift icons, they will keep appreciating as they get older and harder to come by, ‘tis the way of the world imo

1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, broken clutch, £30k starting bid no idea why people like these?

A friend of mine has a sapphire cosworth, which is by no means anything special in my eyes in the ford Cosi family.... I nearly spat my tea out when Harry's garage previewed the Silverstone auction and had one in the same colour with an estimate at £60 - 70k!! Low mileage and great condition but still!

Goes to show how odd things can get, but will become the norm.

Agree on 350z... May take a little while, but I can see them becoming a modern classic. Now if only I had loads more time and space....

For me it's a mix of both. The S Chassis is hugely, ultra, hilariously fun and such a good value for money.

But when you get to a S body costing 30 grand, suddenly it's competing against all sorts of cars that are just flat out more modern and better.

But it's all about the buyer, like the Cossies.

Exactly Ryan and you could apply that logic to all the old stuff I mentioned above, escorts, cortinas etc etc. Loads of nicer more modern metal for the money I won't argue with that, but it comes down to supply and demand and the 200sx is positioned quite well there. No reason why a cortina or escort should be worth 50+ grand, but there must be, otherwise they wouldn't sell.

S bodies seem to have a strong demand base and as someone else mentioned is an icon of jdm 90s with the whole drift scene etc etc... And the supply for nice straight examples in the right configuration e.g. manual, touring, UK, tasteful mods etc is quite limited I'd say.

I went to a local classic car meet on the weekend made up of everything from classic minis to modern Lamborghinis and everything inbetween. I was genuinely surprised at the amount of interest in my s14a. From young'ns to older chaps who had owned them from new with fond memories of epic drives between London and Edinburgh. I got a great sense of pride and satisfaction that people were coming up interested the car, taking photos etc. when there was far more exotic stuff about...

Shame that some owners on sxoc don't quite support it in the same way / realise that the marque is actually genuinely appreciated out there these days

8 Grand and you don't even get an engine or gearbox. Guy is off his face.

180 turned up on Facebook marketplace this morning at ~£16k. Does look nice, kitted and seemingly in good nick.

There are a few S13s available at the moment, but S13 owners appear to be even more hostile to price rises than S14 owners lol

When you say 'hostile to' do you mean they don't want to sell for high price??

No, I mean they moan when they're expensive and up for sale, even tho it literally means good news for them.

The owner popped up on Facebook saying he'd knocked it last week. What a shame. He's been trying to sell the car as a whole for about £15k for months which was pretty reasonable.

Saw the same post, been keeping my eyes on salvage auction all week for it to pop up. Real shame, seems low miles as well!

It had a smokey turbo in the advert but that was it, it'll be a good haul for someone who can live with Cat N. Should make someone happy.

Understood- good for sellers but not buyers! I'm neither as hanging on to mine;paid £450 for it in 2003!

    S14a, Kuro Black, 94k, Auto.

    £17,500.

No photos of the underside and no photos of the registration plate so not possible to check it's MoT history. Even by climbing prices standards, this is IMO unlikely to sell at that price. But continues with the trend of making the rest more valuable.
