    First ever S chassis - 2000 S14a

Finally got a membership so i can post about this, picked up a 2000 S14a in flame red in September, 92k miles.
Car was mostly stock with only a decat/catback, front mount and K&N filter with some Tein coilovers in the boot.

Probably not my smartest moment but the test drive was the 200ish miles back home but it didn't skip a beat.
Few issues to fix found on the way back were a sticking caliper, the usual VCT rattle and god awful bonnet risers...
Sticking brakes were fixed with a £20 refurb kit and paired with some new MTEC discs and EBC redstuff pads

Quick trip to B&Q for some stainless bolts sorted the bonnet risers, much better

Next jobs on the list were the VCT and getting rid of this interesting cold pipe mod for the idle control.
    129305294_294728231934423_8337930318357872443_n.jpg
Managed to find a replacement set of cold side pipes that had previously been modified to remove the pipe for the BOV as that wouldn't be needed. The original BOV was still left in the car although it wasnt actually attached to anything so i removed that and the recirc piping to tidy up the bay a bit.
All this got sorted while swapping out the VCT for a used unit that proved to still rattle but nowhere near as bad as the old one. While the rocker cover was off might as well get a few fresh coats of paint on it since the old paint was flaking. Noticed it was pink at one point so decided to bring that back.

Next one on the list was the coilovers, got them on one aftenoon and set up the dampening to something comfortable ish.

With winter coming in i decided having screen wash would be nice so picked up a £10 universal bag off ebay and wired the motor to the rear wiper motor so i could still use it off the stalk. Hidden the bag behind the flap in the boot and it works great, pressure is decent considering it runs along the rear wiper tube and back through the front washer.

Also got a set of pioneer tweeters working by hacking the originals to bits and soldering the pioneers to the old plug

Latest fun bits done are getting my reg on, clear indicators, removing the front badge and test fitting my new wheels

Most recent jobs done are a bit of MOT work (replacing the turbo oil return, rear drop link and a track rod end), after a week of not driving it, it hopefully should be back on the road soon.

Forgot to mention on the post, back in 2017 ish it had a ton of welding done and it’s absolutely solid underneath, last week got it washed off and a few coats of waxoyl lashed on to get it through this winter. Thinking of getting something more permanent done for next year mind.

That’s great to hear. I personally use and recommend the POR15 system. Had it on mine for 2-4 years in different places and it still looks like it’s just been done

Cheers mate, honestly it wasn't my first choice in colour... or 3rd... but it's definitely grown on me and the price was too good to pass up

Red or Black, those have always been my go to. Nothing like a 90's Red sports coupe to set the goosebumps off.

    Enjoy!

Back in the day it was black definitely, blue definitely, green and red maybe and purple absolutely not. These days red certainly, green moreso than before and purple abso-fecking-lutely not

Have a soft spot for a bit of purple but the purple these were sold in just doesn’t quite work imo.
Black was definitely my first option.

Car has been resprayed at least once and not in great quality as discovered when I removed the mud guards and there is a line from where the bodyshop didn’t bother removing them
If that’s not an excuse for a respray in whatever colour takes my fancy later on down the line, I don’t know what is

Nice looking car and I especially approve of getting rid of the bonnet risers

Red looks great in these cars, the pink (sorry purple) has also really really grown on me too

Bit of an update, still can’t drive with MOT booked Friday but hasn’t stopped me from getting tyres mounted and whacking the wheels on. Since I needed the bumper off to jack the front up I also gave the front mount a quick going over with satin black to hide some of the stone chips.

For guessed specs the fitment is pretty close, could do with some more negative on the rear as they poke a tiny bit and I need to drop the front down but it’s absolutely Baltic outside by the time I finish work so I’ll find time on a weekend to sort it

They suit it, always loved concave monoblock wheels. They look a bit like a lipless 57 Pro which is probably why I like them. Good work

They're kind of like work T5R's but with an irresistible black friday price
