EU (LHD) S13 with SR20 swap - speed reading in mph instead of km/h

Hello. I've just recently acquired a EU LHD S13 with a S14a almost full swap (engine, trans, wheel hubs, still S13 viscous diff) and the speedo reads in miles even though the S13 and the donor S14a are from countries that use km/h.

How is this even possible? Can it even be fixed? i bet it can but how much of a pain will it be?

what speed sensor is being used? if you want it to be as before, it has to match the gauge cluster.
    white '94 s13 200sx scrapped - mapped to 1.45bar. OS giken box, garrett GT2876R, 950cc injectors, ORC twin plate, nistune. 349bhp/325lbft @ 1.3bar CA18DET
white '96 s13 180sx - type g with more kouki bits - RB25DET, GTR steel twin turbo conversion, RB26 crank & rods. 2.6L VVT twin turbo, SR20 OSG box, OSG STR twin plate clutch, Z32 ECU w/ nistune.

the swap was done 10 years ago. i just got the car a few days ago.
both cars read in kmh, is it really possible for the car to be reading in mph after swap (according to previous owner for the last 10 years) or is the car reading "low" due to mismatch between cluster and gearbox/diff ?

you need to use the original S13 speed sensor , the one with wire coming out , not with the plug on the sensor itself

Thank you. So that means the cluster is not reading in miles per hour but it is instead reading "lower" because of the different sensors?
