I've got the letter confirming the reg, really quickly. Anyone know how long it takes from that letter to V5?

How did they manage to get themselves into that state? I've had the one back for the BMW in a matter of days and that was only mid July.

This is what I got told by the car salesman in our yard, said his customers have been waiting for 8 weeks. He spent 4 hours on the phone to DVLA, just trying to get an answer. Apparently a big chunk of their staff are still furlough

this one is new reg, so from a paper form, I'm hoping the fact I got the letter assigning the registration quickly means the v5 will be quick too. Let's see!

A simple change of owner won't be seen by a human so will be as quick as normal. Anything requiring keying or checking by a human (like new reg or import etc) will be sloooooow

Well, I'm declaring that's my good luck for the year. V5 is now in hand, insured and just awaiting plates..

stoof - that's rather how I felt about it - it's a 'one box minivan', shouldn't be likeable - but somehow is - I'd wanted something bigger for a while as a family hack, thought about things like the FRV or the usual 7 seaters but couldn't bring myself to do it.

Ste - that 19mpg you get - is yours the 3.5 RWD or 4WD?

    I now have it.

Did 33 mpg on the run back from the place - cruising on the motorway, a couple of blats but nothing too much.

around town it's dropped to ~28mpg so far. we'll see how it continues. I picked up the non 4WD, non sun-roof option, so I think it's lighter than most. I'm hoping that continues

I'll get some pics up but so far observations

there's quite a lot of Japanese electrical modifications that might be fun to figure out. There's a green light up button, you can switch on, I can hear a relay ping near the Nav unit, but I've no idea what it does. definitely looks aftermarket.

I'll get some pics up later

Does it talk to you in Japanese? That's usually a Toll Card sender under the dash

I figured all of that out. Had a full blown Japanese digital TV tuner in it. One of the little dongles was the IR receiver for the replacement remote, the other is a switchable box to allow you to watch TV when the handbrake is off instead of the usual permanent bypass.

In addition I have a dealer fit alarm system, which is proving to be a bugger. Might have to remove that.

Toll card reader is still there. She does talk to me.

So far I've mostly been servicing and removing bloody scotch locks, bloody awful things. I'll post a pic up now.
