    s14 sr20det td06 laggy

Hi does anyone on here run a td06 25g with a billet compressor wheel on their sr20det. I have fitted one to mine it runs with a tial external wastegate at 1.4 bar but takes a long time to reach peak boost. I have also bought new bc 264 cams and was wondering will these reduce lag with a re tune.

Don’t quote me here but I’m pretty sure the cams will make it worse but increase top end power.

When are you achieving peak boost? What other supporting mods have you got?

The car has a nistune ecu. 740cc injectors, walbro pump, apexi front mount, hks boost controller and a 3 inch scorpion turbo back. also runs a tial external wastegate. seems to be quite high up the rev range maybe 5.5k

    I think it's a 12cm housing on the rear

I’ll dig out one my old runs, but sure I was using the smaller 10cm housing.

That'll be the main reason IMO

I seem to recall many years ago Papa was playing around with the TD06 range and found full boost on the 8cm2 housing was circa 4.5k, so 5.5k on that housing seems about right.....

would it be a case of just swapping to an 8cm housing or would i need a new exhaust side altogether.

    I think the Greddy offerings for the 25G are 8,10 & 16.....
Our little 2ltr four bangers dont really flow enough gas at low RPMs for anything but the 8cm .....Although the cams will help as they'll help flow some more gas in the mid range so will be 'on cam' well before 4k.
Don't quote me but i think its a case of just swapping out the Turbine housing, the turbine wheel should be 'common' for the different housings.....

Brilliant thanks for your help I'll order a smaller 8cm housing and fit the cams. what do yous think of it running at 1.45 bar in guessing it's well at its limit.

What sort of power are you aiming for? A 25G is a 600bhp turbo, I'd personally buy a TD06 20G with an 8cm rear housing, as that'll do 400ish and spool a lot better than a 25G with a big rear housing. They're best run around 1.5bar, and most importantly sound great on a Greddy manifold.
You've got to also take into account that these are 20+ year old turbo's, so don't have the tech of a modern gtx etc.
