Help converting to 5 bolt half shafts

    Hi guys

So i've got a regular s14 diff with the 3x2 bolt half shafts and stubs.

I've acquired R33 gtst 5 bolt half shafts... am i only missing the stubs from the gtst to make it work? Or am i missing something?

Going by the length... it seems it's not as easy.
    S14 half shafts
    635mm - short side, abs, 3x2 pattern, 29 splines 30mm, left
    673mm - long side, abs, 3x2 pattern, 29 splines 30mm, right

    R33 GTST
    604mm - short side, 5x1 pattern, 29 splines 30mm, left
    650mm - long side, 5x1 pattern, 29 splines 30mm, right

So unless the r33 stubs are 25mm longer on each side... it doesn't seem like it's a straight swap

Hey, just remembered I forgot to come back to you about my stub shafts. Sorry about that been pretty busy since I've been back to work. I will get down the garage and measure them tomorrow evening for you. Cheers

Right just measured them, the pair I have are both 172mm overall length including the cup and 122mm of shaft/splines that go inside the diff. Give me a message and I can whatsapp you some pics if you need.

These are the lengths of the actual 5 bolt diff cups obviously, these would have been used with skyline shafts but don't know which ones off hand. I reckon they are longer than the stock s14 cups and thats why it works as the physical size of a r33 diff and s14 are exactly the same.

    Cheers

I always thought that all the VLSD 29 spline 30mm stub axles were interchangable.

I see a few issues.. I've got some pictures off the net, and the stubs are thicker where the seal goes over on the R33 stubs. I'll get some measurements and pictures of my stubs.
The other part is, where the locking goes, unless locking rings are not strictly needed.

    Edit:
my long stub is 155mm, short stub is 148mm, so total length is 1610mm

If both R33 stubs are 172mm each, which is actually weird, cause there is always a short and a long stub . But if both are 172mm in length, the total length would be 1600mm
