    Shortening studs

    Guys,

Could I have some guidance please.

Currently messing around fitting 18 x 9.5’s all round with 15mm concentric spacers. Latest issue is the original studs are ever so slightly fouling the backs of the wheels, so much so I’m not even 100% sure they are seating properly.

I can’t seem to find shortened studs so I’m thinking about taking my dremel with a metal cutting disc to the studs to shorten them by a few mm.

Any other suggestions while I’m waiting for this rain to do one please?

    TIA

    Dave

Thread an open nut on the stud first, so after you cut the end off you can take the nut off and it'll clean the thread up at the end

Will take you a while with a Dremel, angle grinder would be my weapon of choice

Yeah was going to put a but on first, thanks for the advice.

I also have an angle grinder, assume I will get away with cutting them whilst still on the car?

On the car, nut on first, hit them with the death wheel. Just clean the threads up afterwards, needle files I've found are helpful as the nut will thread off fine, but doesn't always mean you're good to go!
