    OPINIONS - Rust Prevention/Protection/Cure

    Greetings,

I'm starting the long process of chassis refurbishment on my S13 and I'm getting to the stage where I'm about to start peeling all the rust away to find out if there are any body panels left untouched.
I've read through a few other posts:

https://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread....ust+protection this one from 2016 with mixed opinions.
https://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread....ust+protection this shorter more specific thread and of course,
    https://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread....highlight=rust the Petrol thread.

It seems there are several opinions floating around, I myself have only ever used Por-15 on a subframe and some small parts and while it was very effective I read about poor UV resistance.
What I'm after really, is opinions on the most well reviewed products on the market for undersealing a rust free pan and also treating the engine bay with the option to paint over the top with colour to match the body.

No limitations to tooling or price etc, just what people recommend

You generally can't paint over underseal type stuff, if you get it down to clean metal just paint it normally, then for stuff like the pan underseal or similar ontop.

UPOL Raptor might be worth a look, can be had in various colours.

I highly recommend the 4 step POR15 method myself. You can check my refurb in my project thread. The top coat protects the rust preventative primer from UV but so does the fact it’s underneath the car too!

You’ll never, ever get a well rounded opinion unless you meet people that have used them all.

I’m going to follow the kind of think SR Autobodies now use which is ROSTISOL, Brush Zinc Primer and Gravitax. Steve even sells a full and complete kit to do it.
