    Barryjdart's CA20DET S13 for sale on ebay

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324117206718?ul_noapp=true

Sad to read about his poor health, he was one of the old school enthusiasts.

Some of the modifications are perhaps a bit dated now, but none of that detracts from the overall condition of the car. The engine alone is probably worth the asking price (despite being 15 years old!).

Took the liberty of writing to the seller to wish Barry all the best. Unfortunately it's not good news. Barry is in hospital with a degenerative condition. He is however still conscious and with it so that's a positive.

Have wished him all the best.

Dated may be but the building blocks cost more than he is asking. If I didn’t have the
z to do I’d snap it up.

More to the point. I hope Barry gets well. A true Gent.

Which was what the Sxoc was
    Founded on. Not these...

One of the most special bits on it is something I have lusted after for a long time; the uprated valve body on the automatic transmission.

OK, of no interest to those who don't appreciate an auto but...

It means that the tranny is now well capable of running more than 300hp and hugely increased torque through it long term. I know to my cost that running Stage 2 with an auto means a new transmission every 80 - 90K or so.

With that valve body the problem is fixed and you can floor it with confidence. Costs about £2.5K landed these days (from Australia). Worth almost half of the present bid on its own. (though mind you, what ND will have charged for a 2 litre stroker rebuild of the CA Lord only knows or can guess....)

Barry is indeed a true Gent. Helped me out here and there with some very useful advice. Not many people have ever run mods with an auto, he knows what he is talking about.

Wish him well and a speedy recovery if that is possible, a gentle and dignified passing if not.

Did the same - recognised the car immediately.

    Sold at £4,900.

    Well worth that.

Do hope and trust that the sale is completed. Just a little concerned that the final bidder has a feedback score of just 4. Cleared funds only I think....

might be worth trying to track the buyer down if you want the gearbox as I bet it gets converted to manual.

I rather feared that would happen.

Don't accept bids from anyone with less than 20 positive feedback, an immediate deposit paid against the winning bid and properly cleared funds in hand before releasing the car are good rules.

Wishing Barry and the family better luck this time round.

Oh dear. "Sold" again, this time to someone with a massive 2 positive feedback - and the next underbidder scarcely much more impressive at only plus 9.

Hope this works out better than the last time.

Thinking of you Barry, best of luck.

Update on Barry's condition via Ebay message:

"Barry is in a care home with a fairly rapid degenerative disease. He nevertheless seems happy and in very good care."

I'm sure I join with all others here on SXOC who have met Barry and benefited from his help and knowledge over the years wish him all the best whatever the outcome.

Sadly it seems that the second Ebay "sale" to Mr. "2" positive feedback the second was as bogus as the last one and duly fell through.

Car Sold privately through Marketplace on Facebook for less than it was worth given time, but with Barry's nursing needs, a limited amount of time for the family to deal with it and the freezing effect of the virus on all car sales it obviously had to be sorted out asap rather than holding out for a higher price or genuine fleabay bidder.

Hope it has been taken on by someone who really appreciates what is a genuinely unique car which has had thousands spent on it over the years.

May your God go with you Barry.
