If Europe get hit harder than us (well there is far more of em to get infected) then could that put us in a better negotiating position somehow??

We got out of the last global recession without massive damage, several European countries went to the wall.

This could be a lot different.

It’s going to really hurt economically. I actually wrote a book about something like this happening 10 years ago. It’s going to get a lot worse

Yes it's certainly starting to look like that, the longer it goes on the worse it will be obviously.

Just in Europe I can see several of the Mediterranean countries needing a bailout in 6 months. With air travel restricted they won't see any income from tourists.
For some of them thats a large percentage of their economy completely wiped out.

Give the German’s credit they have stepped up.

I have to take my hat off to the Right Honourable Mr Boris Johnson. He has inherited a real poisoned chalice and we thought May had it bad after Cameron the coward quit. And Boris is taking the correct measures. I know Chris Whitty the Chief Medical Officer. I was very impressed with his statement

Grant Schapps has also announced if things escalate he will put in measures to shutdown public transport

Now everyone can have a laugh. My Sister in Law’s Mum was looking forward to her 6 monthly holiday to Fuerta Ventura. They turned the plane around over Spain

People consume news through the media. If the media didn’t report it, you’re right, no one would know. In the same way that no one would know.

But what then would be the point of media? To be a blank screen?

    You confuse me. Constantly.

The point of the media is to keep the public informed and not to whip them up into a frenzied panic, in my local area there was no problem with bog roll until the media reported people where stock piling it.

We are being told the virus will reach pandemic in the UK, the media should be allocating more time to telling us how to look after others and ourselves rather than this constant corona hype.

It’s already reached Pandemic status. The media just want to sell newspapers and advertising etc.

It is more serious than we first thought. A mate of mine has been tested positive and he looks terrible

Aren't you spreading panic and fear mongering by reporting on your friends status?

What are those symptoms related to?

He has high blood pressure normally. That’s also caused by the fever

I thought it was Spanish or Mexican

Now we could really spread a juicy rumour. Corona wasn’t made in UK laboratories, it in fact came from Meghan Markle

Getting right sick of little people, i mean the general population.
Nothing but moaning at the government about.... everything, mostly stuff out of there control even after a vast amount of money has been promised for fighting this thing.
Cant everyone not just drop the party politics shite and muck on getting this sorted?

    Sad really.

I think The UK government are doing the right thing. Unfortunately the Loch Ness Monster you have in Holyrood just wants to score points. “Scotland is prepared “ too bad her assembly spent less on the NHS than Wales and England

I agree with Ash, the Government are doing a pretty good job.

They're walking a tightrope with this disaster, get too heavy handed and the economy will take a beating we may not recover from. Do too little and the hospitals are over-run.
