Good offer or is it a bad offer?

My pal has informed me he is selling his S12, only wants £100 but its missing a heap of bits and needs welding (I can weld not an issue) my only fears are how hard is it to get parts and he dosent know the reg so can I still get a v5 in my name?

Does he have the V5 in his name?

I'm guessing the logbook is lost somewhere but if its on DVLA records he could probs get a new one sent out after a phone call.

Unfortunately S12's are pennies. I sold a complete one that was solid last year for £500, it didn't run though but still there's barely any left.

Yea bit like Mk2 Sciroccos in that respect.

Everything else from that era is worth good money, but you can still pick up a Rocco for next to nothing.

Problem is with abit of a dodgy chain of ownership you don't wanna dump loads of money into the car then find it's a nightmare to sell.
Maybe if you got the V5 in your name without any hassle, but right now it's got some red flags around it.

Wouldn't be the first car I've bought with no v5, but yes before work could commence I woukd need to get a v5

    Update on this:

I am taking the offer up just need to get it trailered away from my mates place here is a pic, probably going to regret this plus side a local site has now got permission for Drifting so think I'll get my trailer test done and a drift missile most likely.

with vegetation growing around it like that, I think you're going to be doing a lot of welding.

S12's have quite thick metal body panels so don't rust as bad as 13's. That one does look really bad though. I think you might have too many projects on the go at once. You're not going to get bored.

I can't unsee the wheel arch so I don't dare think what the sills or longitudinals will look like.

Maybe you could break it and spin it round for a quick profit? Rather than have to commit to all that work on a car you're not in love with?

Oh by sure I have far too much going on, it will be taken to my place a quick clean and stored in a corner for 10+ years most likely, and yes the wing shocked me but again I have seen far worse fixed, sills are not bad actually and the main chassis leg seams better than my S13 and that's saying something , if I don't have time or it's too far gone I will brake it but never know.
