    Sr20 S13 rough idle

    Hi all,

After some suggestions on what to look at with my type x.

Drove it to my garage and parked it up no issues at all.
Three weeks later I’ve started it up and left it idling as I swapped cars over. Gone to drive away and it’s not revving bogging down and spluttering.
Managed to get it the two minutes home, and now it will idle occasionally fine then miss a bit, and then other times run really rough and die.
If I stab the accelerator it seems to rev okay, but holding it steady it sounds like a rev limiter.

Checked all the plugs, they’re all showing signs of running rich, along with a sooty bumper.

    Any ideas?

Recently had a service including plugs and fuel filter.

    Thanks in advance.

Who serviced it? What plugs did they use? Did they gap the plugs correctly?

    What spec is the engine?

Thanks for the response, I serviced it using BKR7IEX spark plugs, standard gap, same ones I used on my S15 with no issues.
Engine is stock, with an apexi air filter, full exhaust system and walbro 255.

I just cant really understand how it drove fine until it was left for a few weeks.

    because it's old and Japanese?

Pull the plugs and check the gap, 0.7-0.9mm is the usual range, if they're 1.0 or even larger it's too much and the spark will be getting blown out.
Have you checked for ECU fault codes?

    Fair comment! haha.

I'll check the plugs tonight, tried to check the ECU, but they seem to have removed the LED that I used to use on my old CA s13, and I don't have access to a code reader for it.

Checked the gap on the spark plugs, all 0.8.
Back to the drawing board... annoying how they break when left but don't fix themselves when left.

Just to update this as unanswered threads are the worst.
Turned out to be a massive leak. Popped a bung out of the dump valve delete somehow!
