Can someone please have a look at the images through the link below. I've been having power issues recently and I think it's all down to my turbo.
I've recently had my Turbo, manifold and down pipe gaskets replaced because the turbo intake gasket blew along with the bolts securing it to the down pipe. My mechanic was confused because he thought that the oil intake to the turbo had been cut...I've just done some research online and it wasn't the oil intake but the coolant intake. There is currently no coolant feed to my turbo; it has been plugged from the source and the coolant intake has been chopped off and sealed (basically crushed with pliers about an inch from the coolant inlet.
This was all done by a previous owner. I know the car has had a larger turbo at some point because it's fitted with an aftermarket manifold.
The car seems to suddenly lose power at the same point in certain journeys suggesting that something is overheating. I assume after finding that there is no coolant feed to the turbo that this is the problem.
Just how big a deal is this? Surely the Turbo should have coolant?
