    Recently bought S14 - welding / bodyparts

    Hi Guys!

I am from Belgium and just bought an S14. It was in a garage for 5 years but it didn't do the car any good.
I have been polishing it and I can save the paintwork to be acceptable, one part needs to be resprayed.
Engine is good, has been stock for all his life and has only got 156.000 kms. I was looking for an S14a but couldn't find any because these cars are very rare in Belgium.

So I was shocked by the underside of the car. It turned out to be reaaaallly crispy. No idea if that is still fixeable or how bad it is. I have seen some post of full replacement sills and also the end of the sill, at the wheel arches (no idea what it is called in English) Are the parts still available somewhere?

Looks like the normal places these cars rust. Have a look at my project thread to get an idea of the work involved.

Spicey Weasle on here used to make sills but stopped. I think there is another guy who sells them on ebay. Also if I remember correctly ford fiesta sills fit?

I am sure someone will correct me on the ford fiesta sills.

Looks like there are a couple of people selling on ebay now

That rust isn’t too bad. People have cut sections from sill repair kits for other cars in the past to weld in, sure some have used ford ka sills.

Tbh I’m sure either would work or just bend some out of sheet metal

Yeah true. Guess it depends on how nice a job you want. At the end of the day it's all covered by the skirts anyway if you are lucky. Mine was left in underseal so that if I ever sell the car the new buyer can see that it's a good job and the welds and everything.

that looks pretty good for an S14.
the sills are pretty easy to make repair sections for. just make templates out of cardboard.
