    Different diff output flanges

    Hi all,

I’ve recent acquired a lovely quaife LSD for the PS and went to fit it to the old girl last night to find the 5x1 flanges I have in my existing VLSD are 2 different sizes where as the two 3x2 bolt flanges on the quaife LSD are the same size.
Am I right in thinking if I can get another smaller 5x1 flange to use with my existing smaller 5x1 I can swap them out no worries?

you need flanges for LSD, VLSD nor open diff flanges will fit. but you can modify opendiff flanges to fit LSD

I had 3x2 shafts. pics are shitty, sorry

Soo what your saying is that open flanges will fit if they are modified? in what way do they need to be modified dude?

Probably easier to change the driveshafts

look at 2 left flanges and 5x1 on the right. the 2 left are from open diff. if you look closely you will see that open diff flanges are slightly longer, circlip groove on other position

If it's a quaife atb helical, take the locking ring off the end of the output shafts! I learned that the hard way.
You can just get the long shaft machined down. I got mine installed by quaife and that's what they did, had no problems at all.

    thanks for the info gents,
Just thinking though, by machining down the larger shaft wont i lose a large contact area of spline rendering the shaft a little more weaker?
failing that it may be time to change the shafts which isnt my top choice as ill be going to the 2 x 3 configuration which isn't really what i want to do...
