    Handling

So I’ve came to the conclusion that I have lowered my car to the stage the steering feels like crap, but I like the way it sits....

Easy option it’s to raise the suspension but it won’t be going to standard ride height, the main problem is not lack of grip it actually holds the road pretty well, but the steering feels heavy and doesn’t self centre very well.

I’m sure there are more drift boys running lower than mine, and have no issues with this so maybe there is another issue with the car but everything seems free.

It’s got to the stage I’m thinking of getting GK tech hubs which lower around 50mm without affecting suspension.

I’m not interested in drifting really more grip/track oriented.

It was aligned and I have also played with the castor but still the same..

    Any advice welcomed

Do you have roll centre correction ball joints and anti bump steer rod ends?

Nope all standard bar coilovers and caster arms. It feels like it’s binding

Reading through some similar issues someone had a seized uj on the steering shaft causing similar issues, I’ll have a look at that before I go further

Yes it was aligned on a 4 wheel hunter alignment machine, it will need done again now, as that was a couple of years ago. I’d drove perfectly straight but just always had this tight, not wanting to self centre feeling.

Mine is fully polly bushed, coilovers, braces, full laser alignment arb’s with anti bump steer track rod ends and lower ball joints.

    Handles like an absolute turd.

I think my lower control arm bushes are binding so going to do some work on those to ensure all of the suspension has free movement.

Mine has been like this for a long time Chris, way before the Rockingham weekender, it’s not short on grip it just isn’t right.

I still enjoy driving it but I know something isn’t right and want to get it sorted out.

I’ll check this steering shaft and if it’s ok I think I’ll order a set of these “Grip hubs” as GK Tech call them

Mines always handled badly too, just don’t know what’s up with it or if I simply just can’t drive it properly... do the gktech hubs play with the geometry on the front like the driftworks ones do? Clive was flying with his old kouki v8 at Anglesey running geomasters.

Yes they move the wheel spindles up 50mm to put the suspension arms back nearer where they should be

It’s where the angle of the front wheels is different on lock to compensate for the different radius the wheels turn when steering. Believe they make it equal of the driftworks hubs which wouldn’t work so well for grip work. (Don’t quote me on this though)

Not a terrible price either, I think I’ll need to try them.

What are they 800 dollars plus import and shipping? Interested in the results although I’d likely just Chuck the money at my little fiesta for track days.

That’s my issue, I want this to be better and enjoy it more before I end up buying something else to thrash, keep looking at ep3s but I know this will be better if I sort the handling/suspension
