    Do t28 need back pressure?

Anyone know if a stock t28 needs back pressure for the rear seal?

Since I've went de cat its leaking oil past the seal and I've had the turbo rebuilt. And my engine hasn't got high oil pressure it's all been checked and in good health. Please advice!

    Do t28 need back pressure?

No turbo needs backpressure. Infact thats what kills thrust bearings and then causes oil seal wear & smoke.

    Is the motor healthy?

If its smoking from the turbo, whoever rebuilt the unit didn’t do a good job.

I specialize in these t2 frame turbos so can have a look at it for you if need be

Motor is super healthy and clean inside ect. I had the turbo done by a well known specialist and I have also just tried another turbo with the same outcome. The oil is visible at the back of the turbo and only starts to burn warm and idling. The fact it does the same with both turbos I have tried tells me something else is going on

Excessive crank case pressure can cause the oil seals to leak also, I assume you have a decent breather system set up? Oil drain fully vertical? Any oil restrictors used?

New pcv valve and the engine barely breaths no oil in any intercooler pipes ect. Turbo clocked correctly with the oil drain all clear. I've been at this nesrly a year trying to figure it out lol
It only seems to of happened when I removed the sports cat hence why I thought it was a back pressure issue could be coincidence

Definitely not backpressure related. Running a T28 personally myself with a straight through and no issues.

    CA or SR engine??

CA head->sump breather gets badly clogged, it's a PITA to get to so is often overlooked. It then causes excess crankcase pressure as the engine can't breath properly.
