    Re map and tuning

I have every thing ready to upgrade the turbo, currently running h Dev 3a. I’m not that far from Horsham but is there any where else to consider when getting a proper re map and tuning! Is it worth getting a nistune board over h Dev?

I went for a custom map from H-Dev using their board, only benefit of using other places can map it after. Would definitely recommend it over getting a generic map

I’d love as close to 400 as possible, do you need different cams to get there?

I think your very close to the limit of the gearbox at 400.

Cams would be advisable for 400, prob could do it the cossie way and just push loads of boost though.
what else is in the spec?

My gearbox lasted a few years with ~430hp before the third gear exploded...

Got every thing up to 3a at the mo and ideally looking for 360-380 with a re map z32 maff and gt2871r is there any thing else I need to get there? I’ll run it over to h Dev for the map but wanted to do it properly now and not have to go back after adding stuff

Tomei 256 poncams will help massively and are a bolt in install.

Yer 555, what are they rated too then? Don’t know a lot about cams, can you keep vvti or does it replace every thing?

There are some hks 264 on here? What are the different stages and what do they do as in power wise (I know what cams do)

You may find your setup will be limited by your injectors pretty sure they’re 350bhp ish tops

With the Tomei 256 you keep VVT and don’t have to change anything.

It’s a similar story with the HKS 264 but they are too big for what you need.

Ohhh ok great so stage 1 sort of cams then, ohhh ok is that why people don’t push past 350 on 555’s if I put bigger injectors in with out cams will I be able to push more towards 400

You won’t get close to 400bhp with 555cc injectors. You need 740’s or similar. If you want anywhere other than h-dev to map the car you’ll need a different ecu or nistune.

If you do cams you’ll likely need to do the valve springs too.

If you’re going for a custom map and haven’t bought a turbo yet you should be looking at more modern turbos than the 2871r for sure.

I’d say 400bhp is getting close to needing an updated head gasket and head studs too as depending on your setup you could lift the head with the boost needed.

I never broke 350 with the 555cc injectors but guess it depends on the health of your engine. You shouldn’t need cams for 360 bhp.

Basically have every thing but cams, injectors and power fc, I’m running a Horsham board at the mo so will take it along to them and see what I get,

power Fc is a right old dinosaur as is a 2871r, if I was buying a turbo new I would catapult my self into the present time and buy something that isn't 25 year old technology.
tomei have some newer versions of their cams out.

uprated springs isn't a bod shout as your mapper will no doubt up your rev limit to 8K.

if I already had a manifold etc.. then I would be inclined to go for that new garrett g25 or whatever its called, some Nismo 740's, those new tomei cams in a mild duration, BC valve springs. then speak to jezz about a custom map.
