    Sr20det rocker arm problem

    Hello,

    Engine:

    sr20det
    Forged block
Stock head, stock cams, RAS tomei, only made dual guid shim.

Check with dial guage valve shim clearence.

Hydraulic lash is bled like in manual.

And still have problem with rocker arm on 1 cyilinder exhaust side only.

When car turn to rpm limit (7200) after 5-6 sec engine start working on 3 cyilinder.

    Have someone the same problem?

    What ECU?
Ignition cut or fuel cut rev limiter?

    Standalone - vems

Rev limit is fuel cut, flat shift is ignation cut

Are you sure that the valves are exactly the same height?

What were you doing when on the limiter?
For example late gear change? clutch kick? holding a drift? free rev'ing while not moving? full throttle?
Help us understand the situation better.

Of course it's likely valve float, but the real question is why?
Full throttle, lots of boost (high EGP) 20 year old stock springs on an SR, raised RPM limit, I wouldn't be surprised if that's enough to cause valve float.

Also if you triggered Flat shift/ignition cut with a clutch kick during the example above, I would say it's much more likely to be the reason for valve float.
I am just taking an educated guess though, I'v never thrown a rocker.

Have a look at the end example in the vid:

That was my thinking looking at the picture. Never seen them smash like that, they normally just pop off.

I am thinking that is problem a flat shift, watching my videos I figured that happens only when is flat shift on ( ignation cut ) on rev limit is fuel cut and for now nothing happened then.

I wouldn't use ignition cut at all on an SR20DET with Stock valve springs!
Even a 'fuel cut limited' 7200rpm on stock springs is already enough to create a little valve float and will pump the lifters enough to hold the valves off the seat for a few seconds. But if you are still adding fuel into the exhaust then disaster will happen very easily.
You need to fit some stronger springs and even then never use ignition cut above 4500rpm on an SR20DET. (VET is stronger...)
