Plus you know it's going to **** the catalyst or whatever up unless they've had the forethought to rip it out first.

    Mostly it's just amazingly anti-social

Personally speaking I see the whole car community as being at a weird crossroads currently.

On one hand we have the finances fiesta boys and everyone in the Euro scene is running air and expensive wheels (saw a golf-r with Ferrari wheels on Saturday) which isn’t as big a scene as people think, it’s just because they are normally the people making the most noise and causing the most disruption.

And on the other it’s everyone else, it may just be me as I’m very open minded and talk to everyone, but if someone has put time, effort, money and passion into their car, then they are alright by me. Which is a far larger portion of the community, but again, it gets drowned out by the people who are above mentioned.

I know a number of people who are trying to go back to the days of old where you could build anything and love it because it’s yours, hell I plan on going full Need For Speed Underground on my S14 just because I can, and I think that’s what’s being forgotten.

    “Because I can”

My car gets lots of attention at shows and meets, not because it’s anything super special (despite the funky paint) but because it’s a bit rough, it’s a bit different, and it’s something I’m proud of. And no one can take that away from me.

I appreciate why people get frustrated where the scene is at the moment but if you want to do something, then do it, people will always find a reason not to like something, we’re British it’s what we do, all you can do is do what you enjoy and f**k the rest of it off.

Tl;dr : do what makes you happy, there will always be critical people out there. A good build is a good build, regardless of background.

I dislike the mentality that if you don't do your own work your effort doesn't matter. I work on my cars where appropriate, and I've learned a lot from the people that helped me build my last S14. But I would never judge someone for having a car put together by someone else because it's a product of their vision.

I do also find it difficult to accept that people truly don't care what people think of their cars. I honestly don't believe anyone builds a car that that don't care what other people think about, and it's completely acceptable to want people to react to your vehicle. Just human nature.

I do however tire of modern cars that get modified with the same modifications, or most of the VAG scene that appears to be wheels, air and magazine cover.

The only thing that grates a bit with me is the 'rat scene' and people taking a 7 year old polo, taking the paint off the bonnet so it goes rusty and sticking a roof rack on it and calling it 'a build'

    Stop that sh!t right now,

    This is Rat

    This is sh!t

I like how they do it just to the bonnet, because it's the easiest part to replace.

    Total non-commitment.

I've never been a fan of the Euro scene and think its a bit lame really, why bother modding a polo? Yes, Yes I get the each to their own thing but, why not buy a something from Japan with a turbo and mod that, that's what the cool kids do

Driving a slammed audi only makes you look like a muppet

Mind you the extreme camber scene from Japan that's spread around the world is also a joke that's not even funny. I get front camber helps with drifting but some of those sh*t boxes I've seen on youtube are beyond the realms of saying each to their own... Chelsea smiles for their crimes to car culture

I don't think the cool kids are modifying Japanese Turbo cars anymore mate, especially not the older stuff.

The cool kids are the ones with air ride and Ferrari wheels on their Audi, we're the silly old idiots sat underneath a broken old rustbucket every weekend.

After regrettably putting up this post I've now don't if that makes sence I understand some things more now than I did before, as far as this euro scene is concerned I am trying to think out the box as I have euro cars (3 mk3 golf's) to make it to reflect me so mad 90's style it is!

Thing is with modified Japanese cars is most of them are not cheap to insure, so most young drivers get put off plus these days mummy and daddy will buy them a new audi. If you ever see a jap car at a show its usually a supra or skyline
