So I went out for a little play today and I can confirm that the flappy paddles work, so does the traction control and, pleasantly, so does the auto-blip when you downchange on the overrun

Astons seem a bit, well, agricultural to me and the convertibles are a bit floppy.

Whenever I think of Mercedes I imagine the East End and PCP payments and Repos. They do sound nice but its not really the image for me.

I'm going to have to see just how deep my pockets are in 2020 and decide from there. I may end up sticking with the Jag or getting a convertible version of it if a plan I have for 2019 doesn't make money. We'll see.

In the meantime, I get to drive a lovely car

Many, many people would kill to have my problems, eh ?

I'm a lucky, lucky lad, so I am.

    Nice.

Not so wafty. I followed one though the lanes from Luton, Kimpton, Codicote to Welwyn a few years back. He was shifting and knew the road.

Pace and style but not practical. Next door had one about 10 years ago and then got a convertible. When he had the rag top his daughter complained she had to go by train to her nephews christening.

The reason for getting such a car is so you don't have to ferry spawn around.

    Nice BTW, Jonny.

    This ^^^^.

My youngest is taking her test on Friday and, if I do need to ferry something large I can either borrow or hire a car or van. At present, I still have the Subaru so can use that until someone takes it off my hands....

Looked good on the weekend Jonny, very jealous.

Nice to see the progress Jaaaaaaag have made with progressing the interior over the last decade but still a lovely place to be.

I got chance to clean it this afternoon and fell in love with it all over again.

When you look at the shapes and lines close up, it looks incredible.

I'm now wondering if it might end up being a long-termer.

Paul, Those connectors on the struts are to let it tighten up the suspension when you put it into Race mode, apparently. Race mode ! lol

    Race mode

You probably won't lose a lot on it if you keep it tbh.

Lets face it, you would have to spend a lot of money to get anything significantly better IMO. It would have to be something you really really wanted.

The Stang has race mode but think its used for crowd control

Does anyone remap these? Must be some nice gains to be had with abit more boost and some bolt on mods.

I suspect that 500 is close to the limit for the internals, TBH.

When not in race mode, it only makes around 450 bhp in Sport mode and less in Winter mode and it still spins up the rears like anything when you pin the throttle as demonstrated when I pulled alongside Mark on the way back from breakfast. Basically, it just span the wheels and didn't go forward and that was with the traction control on lol.

What I'm saying is, on the road it already has more than sufficient. If you wanted to drag it then maybe but otherwise, its just pub bragging rights.

With the age and mileage I wouldn't be surprised if it was still on the original tyres, probably worth looking into replacing them

I hadn't thought to check but they look pretty new for tyres with 23K miles on them. I'll check the dates on them. Good call, Ben
