    Intercooler question

    Hi all

my stock 14a intercooler has cracked so i need to replace it

right now my plan is to keep engine stock and do some trackdays/nordschleife however i'll probably chase power in the future

is it worth installing a front mount now? or will it be laggy on stock boost/too cold etc

Im a total noob with mechanical stuff so any advice is welcome.

p.s. any other mods i should consider for track stuff? gonna have to pay someone to fit polybushes but aside from that and decent brake pads the car is totally original

    kind regards

    Will

No such thing as too cold and I’d doubt you’ll notice any difference in response. Now is the time to go front mount.

Brake pads will help a lot on track.

Yes fit a FMIC. You'll want coilovers too, standard s14 suspension is boat like when new, let alone 20 years old

Polybushing is a good shout. Adjustable arms to control your alignment, a good alignment set up, anti roll bars to control the roll, good shocks and tyres are a start.

I'm not sure standard brakes even with better pads will last very long.

You'll probably want some temp gauges for track work

You'll be fine with front mount

Track work is quite demanding on a car. Gauges, decent tyres and brakes are a must... You might want to chuck a bucket seat in too.

If you can I'd book a local half day, see how the car fairs and figure out what needs upgrading.

Its taken me a while to build mine so it can withstand the abuse, had all sorts break in the process... ABS, Turbo + gaskets, bent track rod, engine, melted pipes
