    s14a aircon leak issue

Hi,have just noticed a monumental water leak under my s14a.The passenger footwell is soaked with fluid as well.I have seen posts on other car forums mentioning this.I cant find any posts on SXOC with a process for sorting the problem.Has anyone else had the same problem in their car please?

What colour is it? stick a tiny bit on your finger and smell it? Probably your window seal/footwell rusted and just water.

Have found the location of the leak,is coming from one of the silver covered pipes on the bulkhead and leaking down on to the downpipe. The liquid is red so is coolant which I dont understand?

Yes it is,have found out that its likely to be the heater core leaking or failed. Can anyone confirm that please?

The two pipes directly above the down pipe are the air-con cooler pipes inside the heater/air vent system. Just means you have no air con now, and try not to use it as the pump now has no lubrication.

I just had the heater on today on low to see what would happen and the leak was very slow and drops down on to the downpipe.I did have the aircon on the other day and the passenger footwell got soaked.Have been googling for ages and there's also two more pipes through the firewall from the air condenser and I think its the lower of those two pipes is where the leak is coming from?-I cant figure it out because the condenser would leak refrigerant and not coolant wouldn't it?
Basically when just the heater is on it leaks down the firewall, when the air con is on it leaks inside onto the passenger footwell carpet and down the firewall.

the heater 'box' has a flap inside it which im sure directs the air to go to either the heater matrix or the air con matrix.

you could disconnect the heater pipes from the engine bay side of the bulkhead and loop them together to bypass the heater matrix.

you air con system does have that horrible green liquid inside.

you could take the heater resistor card out and have a poke around inside the hole it makes to see if it gives any more clues.

some times the plastic bulkhead fittings for the heater matrix can crack if someone beasts the jubilee clips up too tight.
