Fuel pump failed - decided to upgrade...but which injectors?

Hi everyone. Sorry if I sound like a total noob but seeing as my fuel pump decided to die today I saw an opportunity and requested that the garage I use upgrade it. They recommended a Walbro 255. I know it won't increase power without the correct injectors so what do you guys recommend?

I did search for the info in the forum before posting but it's so specific I just wanted some direct input. Is this the right pump? I am doing all the research I can but there is so much conflicting information I wanted to ask the experts.

You'll need a remap if you change the injectors. A 255 lph will be fine for a good while, a 320 lph is the next step up if you plan go for bigger turbo and injectors in the future

Really? Balls! It's just the standard T28bb. I have read on this site that the first 3 upgrades for the engine is 1. fuel pump, 2. injectors and 3. ECU.

I planned to get fuel pump first, then injectors and then ECU...I understand that I will need to remap as I go but Slamz (above) is suggesting I won't see any benefits from these mods alone.

This is not true. Nismo 555 injectors, front mounted intercooler, 3 inch exhaust (ideally turbo back), colder plugs, walbro pump on a standard turbo can give you upto 300. Maybe a little more on a BB turbo. Obviously you need to up the boost (either manual controller, actuator spring or electronic). This is about all you need for a HDEV stage 2a map. I know as i have one and 300bhp. Oh and a good clutch might help, thought i was forgetting something! Lol

Check out horsham developments site. It gives you each stage, supporting mods and expected power output.

If you can and want to upgrade the turbo then you can add a z32 MAF and a better clutch and go for 350bhp!

To answer your original query, a 255 is standard issue when the stock pump dies. How many miles has the car done? Life expectancy of the OEM pump is about 80k miles.

Oh and just to add, injectors will be determined by the turbo size and boost you intend on running. But a T28 is good upto 300 ish

If your not wanting more than 300 then dont bother
If your going bigger puffer then look at new squirters, at least 550s if not more.

Yeah I'm just over 80k so that makes sense. The garage said it will be fine for mods exceeding just over 300bhp so it actually sounds like I am getting decent advice from them. I still need to know what injectors to look out for though. I have a 3" exhaust, blitz induction kit and a big ol' Toyosports intercooler so I think I'm right in thinking that fuelling is the next step.

Ok so I think I can decipher what you are saying...I don't need uprated injectors unless I'm trying to go for more than 300bhp by using a bigger turbo...which for now I'm not. I'm not planning on drifting or racing competitively...I just want to be faster than that guy in the BMW that looks like a tool in his stupid 90's wrap around sunglasses...I mean...who wears oil spill wrap around sunglasses anymore? bellend...

just sub 300 is fast enough for most things, the sx doesnt weigh much so it can really shift with that power.

We were all there once mate. IIRC you can make around 250 on stock injectors. They would be maxed out at 300 and you dont want your engine to run lean. Anyone who tunes it for 300 wipl recommend nismo 555's. Once its done its done, then if you wanna go more power, no issue

I'm just looking at Nismo Injectors now on eBay. I assume the reason that the ones you can get from Cyprus and China are so cheap is because they are blag?

I would avoid getting anything for your car from china. Especially something so instrumental to the running of it. Cyprus maybe ok. Worth a few messages to the sellers. I got mine on here second hand. If you arent in a rush then some will probably come about. Also check driftworks, plenty of S Body owners on there selling bits. If you get a second hand set you can always get them flow tested for reassurance too.

The prices from China and Cyprus are worryingly low so I'll probably avoid them. The Wheel and Suspension specialist at Driftworks is one of my customers so I might give him a call...I don't know if their site is just shit but I can't seem to find anything I need on there.

Just change the pump. Have a look for h-dev stage upgrades for an idea on what to do.

Fuel pump, exhaust, intake, plugs and a boost controller set to 12-13psi will see you at 240ish.
