    Sr20det flywheel bolts/Jaaaaag bolts

I have a bit of a budget engine build on the go just now to get the old car moving and need flywheel bolts, so Nissan and ARP want £60 but I found the same m10x24 Jaguar F type flywheel bolts. Difference is they are torx bolts. I haven’t found out the pitch yet but at £1.50 each for genuine Jaguar ones I couldn’t say no.

Anyone think Of a reason not to try this?

Pretty sure I've read on here about people using Ford bolts.

Ford Focus ones weren’t they? I went for arp bolts as the idea of the flywheel coming off scares the crap out of me. If the jag ones are up to the job though that’s a bargain.

for my CA I went with ARP 2000 for a ford pinto m10x1.0 (cortina/sierra/granada/transit) is a set of 6 can get them around £20
,if you get set for the sierra cossie you get 9 bolts (one spare) around £30 if they split up a set of pinto bolts
same bolt specs for SR & CA
the jag spec bolt won't be cr@p so if length and thread is same would be a cheap alternative to ARP whores

One thing to be wary of is the thread pitch, There are at least three metric 'Fine' threads that varying manufacturers use, 10 x 1.25mm, 10 x 1.0mm & 10 x 0.75mm. Its probably best to stick to the ones that are proven to be correct as above unless you can be sure the Jag ones are the same as Nissan.

I used Ford bolts on my old S14a as per Mark's post in the following thread
If they are the correct thread, pitch and length, use Jag tightening specs in case it's a stretch bolt like the Ford diesel bolt.

I have ordered them anyway, It’s a gamble but they look to be the right pitch, I’ll let you boys know once they are here.

Bolts turned up, same pitch as well so I’m going to use them. Always another option if anyone needs some.

Never using an alloy flywheel again either. Standard one is going back on this engine.

Also this engine came with an oil leak, due to the front balancer being left loose it cracked the pulley and tore the seal up.

You can imagine the noises it was making

Slight panic when I seen how much thicker the heads on the bolts are, but they clear everything so far. Friction plate on the clutch has good clearance.

Might be worth forgetting about these if you are fitting anything out of the ordinary.
