    Handling Upgrades

Hi everyone, i am currently driving a stock s14a, and whilst i love the car ive spun out multiple times now in the rain.

Practice is at the top of my list, but what other improvements can i make to get more responsive handling?
also any tips on improving throttle response would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Will

Are you spinning out drifting or just fast driving?

For a start, get some proper grippy tyres and don't drive it in this shitty weather. The gritters have come out to play!

Feel like I'm about to read another sbody meets lamp post thread soon.

Coilovers would be a good start.

An unrestricted intake & exhaust for response.

The sx never was a great handler, its decent and for its age ok but compared to modern stuff its... well not great.

Tyres make a huge difference, dont put cheep naff on unless you want to start getting intimate with hedges.
Alignment is the other one that a lot of folk overlook, its likely all to pot - get it straight and it will fee much better.

Then your on to actually changing stuff like coilovers, subframe bushes, bars and loads more.

cheers for info, i bought it expecting 20 y/o car so i cant moan, i'll check the alignment as per your advice. i will probably look at coilovers though, the back end just seems to move about alot.

Depends on your budget really. If you want to lower the car much and still want it to handle then you’ll need to look at roll centre correction etc too.

Compliant coilovers, uprared arbs, good subframe and arm bushes, decent lower ball joints along with good tyres and alignment will see you right.

Best bang for buck on suspension, once you have good tyres and made sure the whole things aligned right is ARB's and springs.
Arb's make a whipping difference, couple them with springs and assuming your shocks are good and everything else is fine then you will see a big difference.

Arb’s with standard style shocks with lowering springs does make a massive difference.

    Alignment as everyone said.
If you can find a set .....nismo s tunes and arbs and make sure your bushes are good and you will have 200 that works on UK roads all of the time.

You don't wanna be driving it in this weather anyway, loads of salt on the road already, it'll just eat the thing up.

Don't forget there's no traction control or driver aids on the car, you can't just drive it like a nonce and expect the car to sort out your shitty driving for you.

yeah ik, i'll probs park it for a while, i can drive it okayish but if it breaks traction on a shitty surface i feel the suspension moves too slow, the nismo s tunes seem like exactly what i want. when i spun out i was accelerating uphill, car bounced.
