    Which Turbo?

Is the 2870r still the one to go for if you go stage 3 or is there a new all singing all dancing equivalent?

I got gt2871r on mine it’s good to be honest and does the job well but I’m sure turbo technology has come on since they come out I know people use the Garrett gtx range(don’t ask me the difference) and people go hybrid turbo route,
I know Borg Warner do there efr range and there meant to be the bollox but I haven’t heard of any sr’s running them

If you're open to any turbo and a complete custom map etc... You can not go wrong with the new garret turbos on our stuff.

    Take a look https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing...ct_Day1Garrett

The size of a t28, with capability to flow 550 bhp.....

Bit old hat now really, plenty of other options available for people who want to try them out.

Garrets new G range turbo's look pretty tasty.

These are meant to be amazing, if not that then a gtx2867 would be a god bet.

The G series turbos will be impressive, but are expensive because of the turbine alloys.

If you want minimum fuss for stage 3 you're stuck with the older GT2871r, but if you're willing to go for a custom map then pick your poison.

I'd probably follow green's logic and look at BW. 7163 is a bit of a monster on an SR, easy 425hp and will get you 420lb-ft by 3500rpm. It's a belter of an all rounder, just expensive to get setup with due to manifolds etc. A full race jobby will set you back nearly $4000 plus taxes and shipping!

7163, that's the one I ment. I was saving for one but happened across an absolute deal of a 2871R so reluctantly fitted that.
I was going to go for the T4 flanged internally gated version. I think that APW guy does a manifold that would work.

Has anybody installed and got a map of GTX, new G series or EFR turbo on a stock block sr20?

The GTX has been done and I'm sure you'll find the EFR's are well, the G-series hasn't been out for very long yet though.

Here's the new Garrett G25-550 vs GTX3071R series turbo on an SR20. I was thinking about getting this for my Red Top SR20.

The G25 looks massively more responsive against the GTX3071R, but at 400HP I would love to see the same comparison against a GTX2867R. I would say the 3071 is a bit big for that application.

Yea if you want 400 then get a 2876 or 2871R and run it flat out, don't run a larger turbo at less power because you'll just have un-necessary lag.

A twin scroll GTX30 would give that result a run for it's money with the right cams in.

So a twin scroll G25 looks like it has potential.

It's funny the comments refer to EFR7163 - they are brilliant but the spool results they refer to are twin scroll! You would see something similar to the GTX30 for response with a mono scroll.

Be careful comparing mono to twin scroll results and across different frame sizes. A larger turbine but twin scroll could still be better for low end than a smaller turbo. It totally depends on the efficiency stack up between the turbine and the compressor as well as the wheel inertia.

Does Monkey London run a Garrett gtx2867r on his s15 , I think that car looks like it goes really well and I think that's 400bhp. Anyone got more spec on his engine setup ?
