Bad turbo or stem seals?? Need advice

After my last post about my s14 burning oil I sent the t28 away for a rebuild by Midlands turbo. They said the oil seals were shot. Anyway a few hundred miles later it's burning oil again. Not from cold only when warmed and a blip of the throttle puffs it out. Checked comp and head gasket everything fine there. I've been in touch with a few Nissan specialists in the UK and they are all saying they have never had a sr20 in with bad stem seals..

Surely if the stems were gone it would burn from cold as they would leak through the valves into the cylinder?? Not after it warms up but yet again the turbo is freshly rebuilt. Any advice please as this is doing my head in 😂 cheers.

Not checked that hmm. How would that cause it to burn? And all levels good oil barely moves down

The turbo is fed pressurised oil but is gravity drained back into the sump, i would imagine if the drain is blocked then oil is pushing past the seals and being burnt in the turbo.

Did you flush all the pipework after the turbo was reconed ?

It might just be oil left over from the previous problem that is now burning off.

How many miles have you done on the new turbo ?

Also, check the breathers are free and clear.

Comp test is good 150 across board. All pipe work cleaned and it's been on a good dew hundred miles now so probably not that. I'll check my oil drain see if it's clogged fingers crossed it's that otherwise turbo is coming back off and sent away to check it again

What's the oil return like, standard pipe, not clogged or anything?? Is the turbo core rotated properly so the oil drain points straight down?

IIRC in some rare cases the oil control ring can be shot but the compression rings still work fine.
Compression test will come back strong but it'll still burn oil.

I'm going to have a look at the return line this weekend I can't remember where the core is rotated just presumed Midland turbo would of done that. All i did on reassemble was fire the car up with the drain disconnected for a couple of seconds to make sure oil was getting into the turbo and coming back out.

That happened with my car. In the end it burned 1l of oil per 100km

Quite often they'll just throw your CHRA (middle bit of the turbo) in the bin and stick a new one in, because it saves a load of time.
They might not have put the covers back on in the exact same position tho, so quickly double check.

Did it burn all the time? Mine seems to do it when left to idle as if it's building up then puffs out once revved. The oil hasn't moved since it happened.

Yeah good thinking I'll check that although everything went back on with ease so didn't seem like things were outta place.
