    PTU bypass options.

im thinking of switching over to the VAG coilpacks and wondered where people have gotten their ignition amplifier bypass from?
ive seen the yellow empty PTU type ones and the smaller sub loom type, but ive only seen them for sale from abroad. is there any place in the UK that sells them?

    cheers
    Gaz.

I just didn't want to go chopping up my loom incase I ever wanted/needed to go back to stock setup.

I know that is weird seeing as its a S14 SR20 in an S13 with no other OEM wiring.

I was the same but then though I can’t think of a single reason I’d want to go back to 20 year old coils

This! I was dubious and thought what if?? But seriously, once you go VAG there is no going back. Pop it open, gut it and solder in some wires. I bought a spare and gutted it. Lol

Word of warning if you plan to do it tho. There is some horrible gel inside it and you need to get rid of it all.

I know about the gel, ive had them to bits before.

the problem is that a good used PTU is selling for about £60 these days so its actually probably cheaper to buy the yellow 'hollow' one. so its not actually worth gutting a decent one.

Think I paid 40 quid for mine. Parts are getting rarer that's for sure.
