    Skyfall road

Remember bond 23, the one where JB goes to Scotland with M and gets her killed.
Well there is that iconic clip of them standing in a valley looking out over an amazing landscape... and i just happened to be passing by the other day so though - hows about a visit.

The road is easily found on the A82 just ... i dunno 10 or 15 miles shy of Glencoe if your coming from the South. I reached it from the north as i was doing a bit of a scotland tour having went up the East coast to Inverness and coming down the A82 from the north through Lochness and Fort William to Loch Lomond. The place is called Glen Etive and it is stunning, even in the rain.

This is a google grab from the south, the road on the left is the turn off (its a dead end though - 12 miles or so down the single track road)

Here is a quick and dirty maps grab, Fort William is just up a the top.

This was taken from the film

    skyfall3

And i took this a couple of days ago from the exact same spot.

Best part of my visit, on the way out another car came down as i was leaving. No suprise its a busy road as its a very popular camp site with a few houses along it... However this car was a newish Aston Martin - yes Bond was on his way home... i couldnt believe it.

Was there last year in my X5. Not quite a DB5. Loads of tourists there most days looking for the layby! Sadly you won't find the location of Skyfall house anywhere near there since it was filmed in Surrey.

Yeah it was indeed filmed elsewhere, however about 9 miles down the road you will find a lodge that looks suspiciously like Bonds gaff - its very posh.

Watching Highlander (the only good one) the other night and it seems as if the producers of that also used the area around Glen Etive as i recognised it.

    Nifty.

Highlander was filmed at Eilean Donan Castle near the Kyle of Lochalsh, about 10 miles from the Skye bridge.
