anyone made their own engine undertray? mine went years ago and i doubt ill find a stock one anywhere so was thinking of making one myself if i cant find something aftermarket to do the job. im not bad with my hands but my no means good at fabrication but was thinking about making a template from card then cutting/bending something from abs sheet or metal

Keep it plastic if you can, no need to make a big heavy thing out of metal.

I just made one out of aluminium. Cereal box templates are the daddy.

Think I'll have a go with some cereal box templates and get a sheet of plastic and might try using a sheet of dibond as my mate can get it

Take it you're doing it for airflow not protection? I used a bit of 3mm steel to protect my fancy sump

Yea it's mainly for airflow unless a baffled CA sump makes itself known to me, basically I got sick of having a bodykit flapping about so got a pignose fitted up nicely around my fmic and want to address the crappy airflow now that I dont have a floppy fibreglass front end.

Looked at foamboard? Can get sheets with plastic coating, it's light, easy to work with, and pretty durable too

For those thinking about metal, you have to be careful about resonance with metal. OEM fiber is a shock absorber. Sadly, its also a liquid absorbent

If it's thin and planar, it might pant in the air. You can reinforce it with thin strips of polystyrene or similar on the back to inhibit it.

that was my other concern after looking at plastics so im gonna draw up a template (once ive finished working on the rear end) then look at materials. the dibond stuff my mate can get is 2 thin layers of aluminium with a plastic core, its very strong and lightweight but i may put ribs down it if necissary.

anyway at my current work rate it might get done for 2020! thanks for the suggestions though peeps

I made my one from ally sheet with a couple of folds in it to clear the arb so hopefully no resonance.
